Sometimes I do a thing and write for other websites!!!

Two of my favorites are Making it in Manhattan and The Next Up Co.

how+to+stay+motivated+at+work.jpg

Okay, I’ll admit it. Sometimes, work sucks, like really sucks. When I stepped into the adult world, no one cared to mention to me that even though it’s great making your own money, it’s not all rainbows and butterflies earning it. Just like any other job, mine comes with ups and downs. Sure, I love what I do, but some days really feel like an uphill battle. I’m not oblivious to the fact that it won’t always be smooth sailing, but I’ve figured out a few ways to get through even the toughest slump.

Color makes everyone happy, and at MIIM we try to create a world of rainbows and unicorns. We challenge YOU to try color and get in the spring spirit by playing around with pastels. I know that sounds a bit scary, but by following the tips below, we’re sure you won’t look like an Easter egg.

girlboss.jpg

I was that girl that didn’t skip class in college, and when I did, I felt super guilty about it, like I was committing some heinous crime. Now, I keep my fingers crossed for a snow day, which btw, I did NOT get when NY got hit with that bomb cyclone a couple weeks ago (yes, my office was the only one in the city that stuck to regular programming). Clearly, I’m still not over it. When we’re little, we take our weekends for granted and don’t thank our parents enough for letting us play hooky. Now, our paid time off is categorized by personal days, sick days, and vacation days. I’m sure you can guess which category allows for the least amount of days off. If you guessed personal, you’re right. #nodaysoff, but really...I like to consider myself a #girlboss (yes, I know I need to stop using so many hashtags), or at least a #girlboss in training. And for the most part, I consider myself to be a pretty good one. Obviously, I have room to grow, and areas to focus on, but how am I supposed to stay motivated to do so when I never have time to just take a breath and focus on myself?! News flash: even the best #girlbosses need mental health days.

dream job.gif

Growing up, we always have a dream job in mind. Of course it changes as we age, but a dream is always on the horizon. When I was five, I wanted to be a teacher. When I was eleven, I wanted to be a Disney channel star. When I was seventeen, I wanted to be the most successful editorial model under 5’9”. Now, I am twenty-two, and I want to be a successful style blogger and freelance writer, but IRL I’m a Junior Account Executive, working wholesale for a luxury Italian brand. Yes, I know it may sound glamorous, but it is definitely NOT my dream job. Needless to say, I am one of the many that didn’t land their dream job straight out of college. Now, I’m not saying it isn’t possible, but I could probably count on one hand the recent college grads that I know with their dream jobs. So, the big question is, what’s their secret?!

new year.jpg

I think it’s pretty much safe to say that 2017 was a weird year, and yet, I still can’t believe it’s almost over. Every year, I make new resolutions (that I keep for like .02 seconds), and I repeat “this is going to be my year” over and over in my head like a mantra. It’s supposed to be inspiring, meditative, but it’s really just more stressful and intimidating than anything else. This year, I’m dreaming bigger than ever, and 2018 will be my year. It can be yours too because I’m going to tell you how to get what you want in the new year.

A+city+girl's+guide+to+saving+money.jpg

Saving money is hard, especially when it means saying no to that metallic Prada bag you’ve been eyeing. I’ve pretty much mastered the art of making money stretch all from creating a new spending plan (that’s sure to suit even the most addicted shopaholic). With a few easy tricks, saving money in the city is suddenly not so difficult. You may even save enough for that bag...

winter+coats.jpg

Let’s be honest, Mother Nature has spoiled us New Yorkers this season. With the exception of a few chilly days here and there, the weather has remained pretty mild. Even though we don’t want to face it, the cold can’t hold out much longer. Where there’s cold weather, there’s warm clothing... That’s right! It’s officially coat season! At Making it in Manhattan, we don’t want you to have to compromise your #look just to stay warm, so we’ve put together a list of fashion girl approved, cute (but essential) coats that you need this winter! Grab a pen and a piece of paper (or just the notes app on your phone) because it’s time to make your shopping list!

ways+to+wear+a+blazer.jpg

In case you missed pretty much all of fashion month, blazers are in, big time. It seems that every year, as fall approaches, fashionistas around the world unbury their blazers from the back of their closets and start dusting them off. It’s like a stylish girls’ rite of passage as soon as the temperature drops below 75 degrees. Aside from their role as the perfect transitional piece, blazers are just flat out fashionable. From the basic black blazer, to the bar-hopping worthy velvet number, blazers have got your back, literally. So, as fall makes its (delayed) return this year, make sure your wardrobe is stocked and ready for whatever blazer worthy occasion is thrown your way. Oh, and remember, you can never have too many!
