Hi babes!!! I've decided to add a new page to Zoey Leigh! So, long story short, it's really just a way to keep myself consistent with posting, but it also allows me to share my latest obsessions with you! Every Friday, I will post a brand spankin new Friday Faves post. Each post will highlight a different product, article of clothing, t.v. show, restaurant, etc. that I have been obsessing over. Today marks thee very first Friday Fave post ever!!!!! Whooo hooo!!! Can't you tell I'm excited? Okay Zoey...reel it back in a little.

Btw, I totally painted my one thumbnail just for this pic.

Today's Friday Fave is all about lip gloss. Ya know that stuff that attracts all of your hair in one baby gust of wind? Yeah, that stuff. Lately, I feel like the hype is really centered around "liquid lipstick," whatever that means, but I'm kickin it old school with some good 'ol gloss. I am supppperrr picky about lip gloss. I don't want any of that sticky stuff that practically glues my lips shut, or anything scented. I just want to look like a tiny rain cloud formed over my mouth and left a perfect glassy puddle on my lips. Also, I'm pretty busy, so any kind of lip gloss that requires me to stand perfectly still in front of a mirror for 5 minutes to perfect my lip line is a no go. I've collected 4 of my favorite lip glosses, and now, I'm going to share them with you!!

Sephora

Sephora

When I was in 7th grade, my friend Kat (the same Kat that went to Pietro Nolita with me) gave me this Sephora lip gloss in shade Champs-Élysées. Honestly, I am super shocked that it isn’t empty at this point, but I’m not complaining. Somehow, it matches EVERY single semi-nude lipstick color. This lip gloss is perfect for a night out! Let’s be honest, after a few drinks, your lipstick starts to fade, and your steady hand disappears, but that doesn’t mean your whole look has to disintegrate just like that. All you have to do is whip out some Sephora gloss and BAM, you’re good to go, brand new.

I know this lip gloss is practically ancient at this point, so it’s not surprising that it doesn’t exist anymore. But, have no fear! Sephora has some super similar glosses that do the trick just as well. In keeping with the French theme, try Sephora’s Glossy Gloss To Go in shade Creme Brulee. It’ll have all the boys saying ooh la la.

Maybelline

Maybelline

You guys, you’re in for a treat with this one. I was super surprised about how amazing this Maybelline lip gloss was the first time I tried it. About a year ago, I became super obsessed with makeup, and even considered starting my own makeup tutorial channel on YouTube (find out why I didn’t here), but I didn’t want to spend all of my money on outrageously expensive products. So, I took a trip to my local Target (ugh, I miss Target), and perused the cosmetics aisle. Somehow, amongst a sea of pinks and reds, this tiny clear tube stood out to me. Maybe because it’s jam packed with glitter?! I had recently heard about holographic lip gloss, but noticed that it was completely sold out everyyyyywhere (and pretty much still is today), so I figured this was the closest I was going to get. When I tried it, I was shook. It is ahhhhhmazing.

My favorite way to wear it is over my Maybelline Colorblur Creme Matte Pencil in Fast & Fuschia (light pink), or on top of bare lips, but if I must say so myself, it looks great on top of any color. The glitter adds a fun flirty element, and the shimmer lasts all day. Did I mention that it’s only $6?!?! You can get the Maybelline Shine Shot in Prismatic online or in any drugstore today! You should definitely get it. You’ll be thanking me later.

Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs

Oh no! You can totally tell that I didn’t paint the nail on my index finger. Oops. I’ll try to conceal my tricks a little bit better next time.

This is kind of a 2 for 1. The checkout line at Sephora is dangerous territory for me. I always do such a great job limiting myself throughout the store, until I come across the land of the minis... Both of these Marc Jacobs glosses are results of the forbidden Sephora zone. They’re super small which is nice because who actually finishes a full sized tube of lip gloss? Let me know if you do. I’ll be genuinely impressed. The brush is fluffy and bendable, and the gloss glides on smoothly. I wouldn’t suggest layering them on top of a lipstick, but there’s no need to anyway! The colors are girly and pretty all on their own. When I just want a little gloss, but don’t so much need any color, I go for the Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lipgloss (what a mouthful) in Sugar Sugar. When I want to brighten up my lips a bit, I opt for the same gloss in Allow Me.

I'm not calling myself a trendsetter or anything (I totally am), but I am predicting a serious come back for lip gloss. Just watch and see world, watch and see. Now, you can say you were ahead of the game, or better yet, you created the game. In the words of Lil Mama, my lips so luscious. Yours can be too.  Do your lips a favor, and try out some of these glosses.

xoxo,

Zoey Leigh
