FRIDAY FAVES

TSC Him & Her Podcast

Tread lightly my friends. It’s Friday the 13th...ooooo spooooky. I’m not really a very superstitious person, and actually Friday the 13th is usually a pretty lucky day for me. Of course, because I just said that, today is going to totally suck. Sucky day or not, it’s Friday, and you know what that means...It’s time for an all new Friday Fave!

Today’s Friday Fave is The Skinny Confidential’s Him and Her Podcast. If you’re subscribed to my newsletters, you’ve already read about the podcast a little bit. If you’re not subscribed to my newsletters, subscribe damnit...or else. Okay, definitely not threatening you or anything, but seriously why not just click here and subscribe now?! Alright, back to the podcast. So, until last weekend, I had never listened to a podcast ever in my life, and I never even really had any intentions of doing so. It all started when I wheeled my little old lady cart to laundromat with the intention of popping my stuff into the washing machine and calling up my mom to chat while it spun round and round. Well, my mom didn’t answer my phone call, not once, but twice. *Kimmy Gibbler voice* HOW RUDE! I’m her only child. It’s not like she has a million different kids to keep up with. Is it so difficult to tend to your one, lonely child? (Yes, I’m dramatic, but I like it that way).

I usually take my book with me to the laundromat, but because I was so set on calling my mom, I didn’t even bother taking it with me, so I had to improvise. I have followed Lauryn Evarts (a.k.a The Skinny Confidential) on Instagram for quite some time, and I’ve noticed that aside from constantly mocking her husband, Michael Bosstick, for his ridiculous (but lowkey Snoop Dogg chic) sweatsuits and his traveling alter ego, Susan (who’s actually pretty freaking hilarious btw), she’s always talking about her and Michael’s Him and Her Podcast. What better time to check out the wildly popular podcast than on a quiet Sunday afternoon spent doing laundry? So, I found a seat next to the window, plugged my headphones in and scrolled through Lauryn’s website until I found a podcast episode that sounded good. When I say scrolled, I really only moved the screen like one centimeter because the very first episode that popped up sounded good.

The episode I clicked on featured Jackie Schimmel of The Bitch Bible, and she was a crackup. The whole episode was about what dating in 2018 looks like and how to navigate app dating. Each episode is about an hour long, and let me tell you, that hour goes by quickly. I ended up listening to three episodes on Sunday, and one more on Monday while I was at work. I learned about productivity apps that I should be using, how to maintain a healthy gut, what moves I should be doing at the gym to tone my thighs and butt, and basically that I’m now obsessed with podcasts. Who would have thought that they could be so entertaining. I can do work and learn simultaneously, and that’s pretty cool.

I think listening to podcasts might be my new thing, so if you see me with headphones in, just know I’m probably listening to the Him and Her Podcast, not the new Cardi B song. Oh, and by the way, my mom was hiking. That’s why she couldn’t answer the phone.

If you have any other podcast recommendations, please drop them in the comments below! Once I run out of Him and Her Podcast episodes, I’m going to need something new to listen to.

Happy Friday, and have a nice weekend!

xoxo,
